The Mobility Center, located in Boston at 1000 Massachusetts Ave, is available to anyone looking to explore accessible transit options and other community transport resources.

What to Expect at the Mobility Center

Based on your individual needs, the Mobility Center staff are ready to help with a variety of services, including:

  • Group and one-on-one travel training 
  • Planning accessible trips on fixed route or paratransit service
  • Scheduling a RIDE eligibility appointment
  • Helping you use your smartphone or computer to check elevator outages and request a rideshare through Lyft or Uber
  • Connecting you to additional community transportation options

Mobility Center resources are available in-person or virtually and in multiple languages.

Our team will start by asking a few questions about what you’re looking for to help find the service(s) right for you.

COVID precautions

As of May 11, 2023, masks are encouraged but not required for staff and visitors at the Mobility Center. This change coincides with the end of Massachusetts' COVID-19 public health emergency.

Still, we're continuing to take other precautions at the center, including:

  • Frequent sanitation of high-touch surfaces
  • Capacity restrictions in all rooms
  • Dedicated, high filtration HVAC system
  • HEPA air purifiers in all rooms

Do not come into the Mobility Center if you are sick, have been exposed to COVID, have any COVID symptoms, or have tested positive for COVID in the last 5 days.


Apply for a Senior, TAP, or Blind Access CharlieCard Online

Eligible riders can apply for a Senior, TAP, or Blind Access CharlieCard online.

Senior CharlieCard

People 65 and older are eligible for reduced MBTA fares with a Senior CharlieCard.

Transportation Access Pass (TAP) CharlieCard

People with disabilities and Medicare cardholders are eligible for reduced MBTA fares with a Transportation Access Pass (TAP) CharlieCard.

Blind Access CharlieCard

People who are legally blind, as well as an accompanying guide, ride all MBTA services for free with a Blind Access CharlieCard.
