Green Line Transformation | B Branch Track Upgrades: 12-Day Surge
Monday, June 20 – Friday, July 1, 2022
Angel Peña: “Hi, I’m Angel Peña, Chief of Capital Transformation. I’m excited to announce that our 12-day full access closure on the B Branch is now complete. Our team has made significant progress over the past twelve days to deliver safer, more reliable service to riders of the Green Line. Our senior project manager, Gwen Dunlevy, went out to the work site to take a look at the work completed. Gwen?”
Gwen Dunlevy: “Thanks Angel. I’m out here at the field at the Washington St station where we recently completed safety upgrades and track upgrades. Right behind me to my left you can see a speed balise, part of the safety-critical GLTPS project. In addition to that, the Washington Street crossover which is behind me was also replaced. With these track and safety upgrades we are delivering a safer more reliable ride throughout the Green Line. In addition to that, multiple street speed restrictions have been removed to make a faster ride as well. Right now we are finishing up our final touches and safety inspections so we can return on time. Back to you Angel.”
Angel Peña: “Thanks Gwen. And thank you to all of our B Branch riders for their patience during this critical time of improvement. To stay up-to-date with progress not only on the B Branch but the entire Green Line system you can sign up for our weekly newsletters on our website: MBTA.com/GLT, and if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out to our email address: GLT@MBTA.com. In the upcoming weeks, our team will continue construction across the Green Line system to advance service for all passengers, and keeping you all informed is our top priority. Stay tuned for more to come.”
