B Branch Track Upgrades 100% Complete

On Friday, July 1, we completed work on the B Branch full access closure. This project improved safety and reliability for riders, pedestrians, bicyclists, and drivers while minimizing disruption.

As part of our $9.6 billion, 5-year capital investment plan, we're renovating stations, modernizing fare collection systems, upgrading services for our buses, subways, and ferries, and improving the accessibility of the entire system.

What We've Accomplished

In these 12 days, our crews completed the following:

  • Renewed 3,200 feet of track
  • Upgraded four special trackwork units
  • Installed Green Line Train Protection System components along the entire B Branch
  • Upgraded the Linden St vehicle intersection and the Fordham Rd pedestrian crossing
  • Completed additional work beyond the original scope, including concrete repairs at Babcock St and Amory St stations, track replacement in Lake St yard, painting, fence repairs, and lighting improvements
