E Branch Track and Intersection Upgrades 100% Complete

On Saturday, August 28, we completed the 28-day E Branch Track and Intersection Upgrades project a day early.
Crews completed what would have been a year’s worth of night and weekend work in just 27 days of full closure. This project improved safety, reliability, and accessibility for riders, pedestrians, bicyclists and drivers while minimizing disruption.

What We Accomplished
During the 27 days of work, our crews:
- Renewed 4,600 feet of track on the E Branch between Heath Street and Brigham Circle
- Installed new track and pavement and improved crosswalks at the intersections of Tremont and Francis streets with Huntington Avenue
- Improved crosswalks at Back of the Hill station, at the ends of the Heath Street platform, and at the intersection of Heath Street and South Huntington Avenue

As part of our $9.6 billion, 5-year capital investment plan, we're renovating stations, modernizing fare collection systems, upgrading services for our buses, subways, and ferries, and improving the accessibility of the entire system.
