Second 9 Day Full Access Closure Completed
Updated on July 1, 2021
From June 24 – July 2, we shut down the Green Line D Branch between Riverside and Fenway to accelerate work on the Green Line D Track and Signal Replacement project.
During this second 9-day full access closure, crews were able to bring the overall D Branch Track and Signal project completion to 95%.
This work will enhance safety, reliability, and provide for a smoother ride on the Green Line.
What We Did: June 24 – July 2, 2021
Accelerating this project allows us to complete the most disruptive trackwork months earlier. After the second half of the 18-day closure:
- Trackwork is 98% complete
- Special trackwork is 99% complete
- Signal system replacement is 91% complete.
- Catenary Pole Foundations are 96% complete
Overall, D Branch Track and Signal project work is 95% complete
Regular Green Line service resumed as planned on July 3. From July 6 to August 5, weeknight shuttles will operate between Riverside and Reservoir from 8:45 PM to end of service.
