B Branch Full Access Closure Begins April 17
Updated on April 21, 2021
We’re consolidating four B Branch stops into two fully accessible, brand-new stations—Babcock St Station and Amory St Station.
To do this work, we need to shut down service between Washington St and Kenmore for seven weeks from April to June.
Building a Better T
As part of our $9.6 billion, 5-year capital investment plan, we're renovating stations, modernizing fare collection systems, upgrading services for our buses, subways, and ferries, and improving the accessibility of the entire system.
Full Access Closure from April 17 - June 13
Crews will work 24 hours a day, seven days a week (except for May 10 – 16) to install utilities and construct new platforms for the two new stations. During this time, service will run between Washington St and Kenmore as follows:
- Saturday, April 17 – Sunday, May 9: shuttles all day and night
- Monday, May 10 – Sunday, May 16: regular service
- Monday, May 17 – Sunday, June 13: shuttles all day and night
On June 14, work will revert to weeknights and weekends only.

Neighborhood Impacts
We will also need to detour traffic with single-lane closures on Commonwealth Avenue from Babcock St to BU West Stations. Signs will be installed to indicate pedestrian and bicycle routes through the work zones.
