B Branch Accelerated Work 40% Complete
Updated on May 12, 2021
Last week, we completed our third week of accelerated work on the Green Line B Branch. Work is now 40% complete, with four weeks of work remaining.
Crews have been working around the clock on the B Branch Consolidation and Track and Intersection Upgrades. By working on these two projects simultaneously, we will reduce the need for future B Branch closures.

As part of our $9.6 billion, 5-year capital investment plan, we're renovating stations, modernizing fare collection systems, upgrading services for our buses, subways, and ferries, and improving the accessibility of the entire system.
Work Will Pause May 10 – 16
We're pausing this week to support Boston University’s commencement. We have worked closely with our partners at Boston University to ensure that this important week will go smoothly for graduates and their families.
Crews will resume work on May 17 and will continue to work around the clock through June 13. Shuttles will run all day and night between Washington St and Kenmore.
On June 14, work will revert to weeknights and weekends only.
