B Branch Accelerated Work 100% Complete
Updated on June 14, 2021
On Sunday night, June 13, we completed our seventh and final week of accelerated work on the B Branch Station Consolidation project. By carrying out seven weeks of 24/7 work, we will be able to deliver two new, accessible stations on the B Branch months ahead of schedule (by late 2021).
See What We Accomplished
Over the course of the acceleration, our crews worked on the following:
Construction of platforms for the new Amory Street and Babcock Street stations
Began installation of steel framework for canopies at the new Amory Street and Babcock Street stations
Continued installation of electrical hookups for lighting and communications at the new Amory Street and Babcock Street stations
Continued demolition of the old St. Paul Street and Babcock Street stations
The 2021 Track and Intersection Upgrades Project leveraged access to the tracks to replace track and upgrade two intersections
- Installed a tunnel monitoring system at the Blandford Portal and conducted leak mitigation inside the tunnel
What You Can Expect Through Late 2021
Crews will continue working weeknights and weekends through late 2021.
Occasionally, crews may carry out daytime work installing electrical connections at the new platforms—this will not affect daytime train service.
Shuttles will continue operating weeknights and weekends between Washington St and Kenmore through late 2021.
